Sauteed Broccoli with Garlic and Mushrooms – A Healthy Side Dish for the Whole Family

This is one of our most favorite side dishes ever! I love adding it to our  lunch or dinner table.  I can't stop looking at my kids enjoy holding the broccoli “trees” and asking for more. Besides the fact that we all need more greens in our daily diet. This side-dish is easy as 123. You can do it without the mushrooms, however, they do add a meaty texture and such an amazing flavor!

Instructions

Step #1:  Clean the broccoli (soak in salted water for 10 minutes),  slice the mushrooms, mince the garlic, and set aside.

Step #2:  Bring lots of water to a boil in a pot. Add 1 big tablespoon of salt. Add the broccoli and cook for exactly 2 minutes. Take out and put in a strainer, and wash under cold water.

Step #3:  In a wide skillet or pan, add the oil and garlic and mix for 30 seconds (be careful not to burn). Add the mushrooms and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Add the cooked broccoli and season with a generous amount of salt and pepper. Mix for a minute and turn off the heat.  Serve hot or room temperature.
