There is nothing more festive in my eyes than this show stopper side dish. Every wedding and fancy party in Israel would serve this on a bed of rice or couscous with a fresh sprinkle of parsley to brighten it all up. The colors are dark and rich and the flavor is full of warm spices that wake up your taste buds. The combination of the slow-cooked dry fruits and crunchy nuts together brings a beautiful contrast of textures and colors. This dish is perfect for the holidays, healthy and beyond delicious. Definitely a MUST TRY!
1). Heat up oil in a wide nonstick pan. Add the onions with 1 tbsp sugar and sauté for about 5- 7 minutes until golden. Add the nuts and spices and mix for a minute.
2). Add the dry fruits, wine, silan, and water. Sprinkle some salt and pepper, mix well and bring to a boil
3). Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes.
4). Serve on a bed of couscous or rice and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Enjoy!
